"So why don't you just start selling the kind of clothes and jewelry you make for yourself?"

Is what a friend of mine asked me when I was broke and made my own clothes and jewelry out of salvaged trash, old fabrics from second hand shops and remakes of clothes I had worn out.
So I did. My mother had just passed away and I used part of my inheritance to by a fancy sewing machine and tools and just started making things and pitching them to stores in town.
And it worked.
I am yet to this day a little baffled that it actually did work.
Now I have my own studio close to my apartment where I work on my jewelry, clothes and other art projects.
